I'm Alive!!

Sorry about the long delay in posting. You know how life can get...busy...busy....busy.
City Mission asked me to come take pictures of the tutors, and their kids. I was more than happy to do this! It was good being back at tutoring, and seeing many familiar faces! I was very happy with how they turned out, so I decide to post some of them. Enjoy!

I highly dislike carpet

Awhile back I posted about how gross our carpet was getting and how I wanted to pull it all up. Donnie did let me pull up a corner and this is what we saw
It looks good! However, here are the problems. We have NO idea what the rest of the floor looks like. We would have to pull up all the carpet to get a good idea of what we are dealing with. Also, it would still be a ton of work to pull it all up, sand it, and finish it. I keep asking around, and no one wants to help with this project. I wonder why? heheh

So, I think my heart knows that we are stuck with the carpet at least for a little bit more. Yesterday I took some spot cleaner and scrubbed and scrubbed. I do think it looks a bit better now.
Then I went to Home Depot and did the unthinkable. I bought these clear mats for our entry way. I think they do look a bit tacky, but they are practical.

If anyone would volunteer to finish our floors for us, that would be super!!!!

Picture

Courtney asked for a pregnant picture of myself, and only because I love her SO much, am I posting one. I hope your happy, Courtney! :-)

I know some people who LOVE being pregnant. I'm discovering I'm not one of them. Between the morning sickness (that last all day long) the moodiness, and the constantly being tried I'm not sure whats to like. I have been told that once the baby is out, it is all worth it.

I have come to a conclusion. Any other children we have will not be coming out of me. Anyways, whats better than giving a child a family?

So here is my question for all you who have been pregnant. Did you love being pregnant?

More Diapers!

I know there were some questions about the diaper situation. One of the questions was how I came up with the number of 3,000. I figured that we would use ten diapers a day (7am, 9am, 11am, 1pm, 3pm, 5pm, 7pm, 9pm, and two in the night) giving us a grand total of 3,650. I thought that as the baby got older it was be changed less, and 3,000 sounded like a good number.
To keep track of the sizes and numbers I made a chart. (I do love making charts). I'm not buying any newborn because I was 10.5 pounds when I was born, and did not fit in anything newbornish. So I'm buying 750 of sizes 1-4
I know this is not an exact science, and I'm mostly likely way off of things, but its a start! FYI: CVS has diapers buy one get one FREE this week. Needless to say I'm stocking up. So far we have about 500 diapers. Only 2,500 to go!

What a weekend!

As some of you already know, I had one CRAZY weekend. I will fill everyone in. :-)

Thursday 5pm: At this time I was getting some pain in my belly area on my right side. I was not too worried because I thought it was the baby making my belly bigger. (and thats what my "What to Expect when your Expecting" book said)

Friday 12pm: I was still having pain at this time so I called my doctor. She was not in the office but her nurse said I should head to the ER just to have it checked out. I did not think this was all that necessary, but I did want to find out what was going on.

Friday 5pm: Donnie met my at the Henry Ford ER at Fairlane which is right by my work. They ran a ton of test. The found out that the baby was a okay, and that made me feel much better. However my while blood cell count was wacky, and the doctor feared that something was wrong with my appendix.

Saturday 12am: They sent me, via ambulance, to Henry Ford hospital downtown. Riding in an ambulance is not nearly as fun as I thought it would be. They put me in a 24 hour hold room so the surgeon could have a look at me.

Saturday 2am: A team of surgeons came to look at me. Here was the problem...the only was they could find out if it was for sure my appendix was to open me up. (something I did not want to happen) This was because I could not have a cat scan or anything like that because I was pregnant. So, they were going to keep an eye on me for a bit.

Saturday 8am: I have an ultrasound done of my appendix, but because I'm pregnant they can not see anything. However, the good thing was that I ran into my own OBGYN on my way back to my room. She was shocked to see me, and said she would come check on me later.

Saturday 12pm: I get to have lunch! This was jello and some sorbet, which I was very grateful of seeing that I had not had anything to eat in a very long time. After I kept down the jello they decided that I could have real food for dinner. And if I could keep that down, my appendix was most likely a okay.

Saturday 6pm: At this point I'm starting to go bonkers from being in the hospital so long. However, I did get dinner which made things all better. They gave me mac and cheese with peas. This was a far cry from the jello I had for lunch!

Saturday 7pm: My OBGYN came to visit me! She said I was fine, and needed to go home. She looked at my white blood cell count and said that they were normal for a pregnant lady. She also made the comment that ER doctors don't have a lot of experience with pregnant ladies and tend to over react. The cool thing was she stayed with Donnie and I for like 40 mins just chatting. I love this lady!

Saturday 9pm: I send Donnie home and wait for the surgeon to make her rounds.

Saturday 10pm: I was waken up by a nurse saying "What on earth are you still doing here? I'm going to get them to send you home!" I love this lady! I call Donnie and tell him to come pick me up.

Saturday 11pm: The surgeon comes and says I can go home! Yeah!

I'm so happy to be home! I'm still having pain, but I'm reassured to know that its just the baby getting bigger! Thanks to everyone who read this VERY LONG post!

I have a goal!

I have a goal. 3,000 diapers by the time the baby is born. This should get us set for the first year. Seeing that money will be tighter when the baby is born, Donnie and I thought it would be a good idea to start shopping now when things are on sale.

So off to CVS I went today armed with lots of coupons. Drum roll please.......I spend $20, saved $39 and got $14 in extra bucks! Not to shabby!

If you would like to contribute to the diaper goal you are more than welcome!!!

What Would You Do?

Here is the problem...our carpet

As you can see, only after a year living here our carpet has become yucky. This is a problem mostly only in the area by the front door. We tried having a mat down, but it always got caught in the door, so as you can see in the picture, it is less than helpful.

Now Donnie and I both have our own opinion about what should be done. He says rent a carpet cleaner every once in a while and clean it.

I say, rip it out! Our house was built in the 50's so there is a chance that there are hardwood floors under it. Now we don't have the money to put in hardwood floors, so they would have to be there already. I need to rip up a corner and see.

So what is your vote? Rip it out, or rent a carpet cleaner?

Dance Pug Dance!

I tried to teach Frankie the macarena today. Somehow, it was not successful.
