Awhile back I
posted about having a chestnut tree. I was very perplexed about how one is to get the nut out of its shell...until today. For some reason, they all started opening up today! Its one of the oddest things I have ever seen. I will try to let the pictures do the explaining.
When I found out that it was a chestnut tree, I came up with a grand plan to harvest them and roast them over a fire, just like the song. However, I think I have some competition. The squirrels are all over these things! And let me tell you, these guys are fast! So, don't be calling me when your wanting your roasted over the fire chestnuts!

I say leave the chestnuts to the squirrels. Have you ever had real chestnuts roasted over an open fire?
LOL...I laughed when I read the comment KB left on my blog site--I had JUST read your new post and KB's response...LOL...I think she's got a good idea there! I'll let you know when our fireplace is up and running! For now--HOLD ON TO THE NUTS! hehe...
Are you finding them open on the ground? It's that time of the year when the squirrels are gathering food for the winter, so they may have just gotten into a chestnut frenzy lately! lol
