Thanks Peeps!

I want to thank everyone for sending me their money for seeds. THANKS!

I was able to buy 30 packs of seeds and take them to Capuchin Soup Kitchen this week. The seeds will be given to the guests at the soup kitchen to encourage them to start growing their own food.

I hung out for a bit, to see what all goes on. And I have to say, they are doing super cool things there! On Wednesdays and Saturdays, they have volunteers come down to tend the gardens. 90% of what they grow they use at the soup kitchen, and the other 10% they sell at local farmers markets to raise awareness about urban farming. They even have 40 bee hives!
While I was there they were picking currants. This was all very educational for me, because I had never heard of currants before. So I was told to pick some right off the branch and eat them! How fun is that?
Also while I was there a group of neighborhood kids came that were part of a summer camp program that Capuchin hosts. So with them I picked currants for a bit.

What an awesome program this is! Thanks everyone for your help!

Are You All Ready For This?

Okay people...I need your help! Here is the background. Our church is doing a series on Bling-onomics. So this past Sunday, everyone was given one dollar and told they were to use it for good.

Here is my plan. I would like to buy seeds for the Capuchin Soup Kitchen in Detroit. They have this whole urban farm that they plant veggies to use at the soup kitchen. Also, the guest at the soup kitchen are given seed packets in hopes that they will start to grow their own food. How cool is that?

Here is where I need help from you all. What I'm asking for is for people to match my dollar. Its this simple. Leave a comment on this post saying that you would like to give a dollar. Then put a dollar in the mail, and send it to me. (if you don't have my address, feel free to email me at leospooh2@hotmail.com and I will send it to you.)

Then what I will do is go and buy the seeds and take them to Capuchin Soup Kitchen.

So people...here is your chance to make a difference in the city of Detroit. Leave a comment, and send me your dollar!

Thanks!!!!!

Carrier of Death!

As I posted the other day, the family that I nanny for gave me some really great stuff. Including a babybjorn. I also have one on my registry. The new one will be for Donnie and I, and the older one my mom wants.

So I was looking at it today, and thought I would take a look at the instructions.
Good grief. I looked at the instructions and this whole thing looks really hard to do. I'm going to need someone to come over and give me lessons on how to put it on!

Then I started looking at all the warnings on it.

This is the best warning of them all. I'll zoom in for the best part.

Holy Cow! This thing is going to kill my baby!!!!

Scar Neck Part 2

So awhile back I went to my doctor about my scar on my neck, and she told me to wear sunscreen. I really had no hope for the sunscreen. But you know what? My scar is looking SO much better! I can not believe it! The sunscreen works. Who knew doctors are so smart? hehe

Basement Fun

As you all know, we had several people come out to give us estimates on our air conditioner. And of course they all had to see the basement. Showing people our messie basement was my wake up call. I knew what needed to be done. Clean the basement.

Here is the before:

And the after:
Not bad if I do say so myself. :-) The thing I really tried to focus on was grouping like things together, and then labeling them.

So I have a diaper area:

And a area of lots of random stuff, all neatly labeled!
Surprisingly this did not take me nearly as long as I thought it would!

We Have Baby Stuff!

The family that I nanny for kindly saved much baby stuff for Donnie and I to have. Yesterday I brought all the goodies home.

The two big things were.....
a crib...

and a car seat.

Yeah!!!!

And speaking of work, I only have 29 more days to go! Thats not very many! When I counted the days and saw how few I have left, I came to the conclusion that I'm going to miss those little kids!

What Would You Do?

As I have posted about before, we need a new air conditioning unit. We did have a couple more people come out to give us quotes, and they were much cheaper than the first.

So here is the question. Do we go ahead and get a whole new system for the house, or just buy a couple more window units? I will list all the pro's and con's for your reading pleasure. :-)

Whole New AC Unit

Pro- It needs to be done at some point, and it will add value to the house. Also, with Donnie and I both currently working we have more money now than in the future. And best of all, we would have a cool house.
Con-It will cost about $2,400. We do not currently have this much money, so we would have to go into debt to pay for it. Then with interest, it would end up costing a lot more.

Window Units
Pro-This would cost a lot less. From what I have found on walmarts website we could spend about $300 for a much cooler house. No debt needed!
Con-Window units are a pain, dragging them up and down each spring and fall. Also, I think in the long run they are more expensive to run.

So what do you all think? New AC or window units? Let me know what you think!

Diaper Update

I'm sure all of you are dying of anticipation to hear how the diaper getting is going, so I will give an update.

I have all the size 1 and 3 diapers I plan on needing. I need 336 more size two, and 396 size four, and then I'm done!

They have taken completely over the closet, so soon most of them will be heading to the basement.

Happy Fathers Day!

Yesterday, Donnie and I headed to my parents house to celebrate Fathers Day. As some of you know my dad collects civil war medals from Ohio, so I thought it would be nice to make him a medal cake.
I found this picture online of an Ohio medal, and used it for my guide.
And this is my version. Overall, I was happy with how it turned out.

And I think my dad was very surprised and pleased with it.

Happy Fathers Days!

At first I thought it was a total joke, but from their website, I think its true!! Now, I don't know about you all, but back in the day I LOVED these guys. I even saw them twice in concert!

And now we have the chance to see them in concert again people! Mark your calender for Oct. 28, 2008 when they will be at the Palace.

What Would You Have Done?

On Sunday Donnie and I took Frankie to get groomed at Petsmart. So when he was done we headed back to Petsmart to pick him up.

I'm going to give you all the details of this event so you can fully understand the situation.

I unlock the car door, Donnie puts Frankie in the back seat on the passenger side door. I walk around to the drivers door to get in, and by this time Frankie is in the drivers seat ready to greet me.

Well...I get in the car, and the lady in the car next to me starts yelling. She was telling me how I should NEVER leave a dog in a car without the windows cracked, how he could have died, and on and on.

I explained to her that Frankie was in the store with us, and not in the car. I'm not sure if she did not hear me, or not believe me, but she kept going on and on about what horrible dog parents we are.

So at this point I looked at her, and said "okay, thank you" in a very cheery voice, and drove away.

So here is my question. What would you have said to the lady?

Wowie Wow Wow

This weekend my mom and dad went down to Ohio for a wedding. My dear cousin Preston, and his wife Jackie had some baby clothes for us there that my parents picked up and gave us tonight. These were things that their little one is no longer wearing.

There were four diaper boxes jammed packed with clothes. Donnie and I could not get over it! And everything looks brand new!! And super cute. There are hats, blankets, pajamas, Christmas outfits, socks, and on and on.

Donnie and I are convinced that our peanut will never have to wear the same outfit twice! What a blessing this gift is to us!

Too Hot!

I have an announcement to make. Donnie and I are moving to Alaska. I can not take the heat any longer!!!!

Our house does have A/C but it is not currently working. We had someone out to look at it last year, and they said it would be better to replace it than fix it, seeing that its over 20 years old.

So yesterday we had a guy come out to give us an estimate on a new unit. And know how much it would cost? Over $4,000. Needless to say Donnie and I do not have an extra $4,000 laying around. We have some other people coming out to give us estimates later this week. We shall see.

Baby Gift

Sunday at church, Donnie and I got one of our first baby gifts! Our church made a build-a-bear for the baby! (well....build-an-elephant) It is so cute! It even plays music when you squish the paw! I'm sure the baby will love it.
The card was also so sweet because so many people were able to wish us well. A big thanks to the Oaks Church!! yeah!!!

Too Old?

The other day I was painting my nails and Donnie was sitting next to me. I made a comment about my clear nail polish being really old. And he asked if I had got it before we stared dating.
Then I showed him the Arbor price tag on it. Yeah....it was WAY before we started dating.
I knew it was time to get some new clear nail polish so I headed to CVS and bought some that was on sale. :-)

So I have two questions for you all. One, does anyone else have things still around with Arbor price tags on them? Two, how long ago did Arbor become CVS?

Tooth Fairy

On Friday Donnie had to get a molar pulled. Needless to say he has been in a great deal of pain so far this weekend.

However, he did have a pleasant surprise on Saturday morning when he found a note from the tooth fairy. He got 8 cents from her! 3 for the tooth, and 5 for pain and suffering. That tooth fairy is so thoughtful!
