Update!

Currently I'm at work, and its nap time! That means I can have a few minutes of computer time!!! I knew I could not wait till Wednesday!! Here are a few updates.

I have not gotten any results back from the many tests I had done last week. However, I should hear from the doctor today. I am feeling much better.

The new house is great! Two Men and a Truck moved us on Saturday. They were great!!! So fast!!! But we still have some odds and ends at the apartment that we will have to get out before the 1st. Donnie and I spent most of the weekend painting. We painted the second bedroom, our bedroom, and the living room. The only thing we have left is the hallway!!!

I do have lots of pictures that I hope to post on Wednesday!

We Did It!!!

We are official home owners. (but I think the bank currently owns about 99% of the house) We did close today at 3 pm and all went well. However, everyone was avoiding me with the whole pink eye thing. After closing we stopped by the house to get our key. I don't think it has hit me that it is our house yet.

These are the appliance that I have been talking about in a couple past posts. I finally took a picture of them today. I have been told by many people not to get rid of them, (seeing that retro is cool) but I still say they have to go! I would be more than happy to sell them to someone who thinks retro is cool. hehehehe

When it Rains it Pours

Two Words....Pink Eye

This morning I woke up with goupie eyes..and that means one thing. Pink eye. I was at the doctor today for a ultrasound of my heart. On the way out, I ran into my doctor. He asked how I was feeling. To this I replied that I still felt sick, and he put me in a room and looked at me at once. He said I looked just as bad as I did on Monday, plus pink eye. So I got more prescriptions. I'm turning into a pharmacy!
Please pray for me to get better before Monday. I need to get back to work!!!
Less than 2 hours till closing!

Its the End of the World!!!

This morning I have been transferring all the bills and such to our NEW address. Everything was going well, until I talked to the Internet people. Here is the very tragic news. The Internet people can not come out till WEDNESDAY to hook up our Internet. We are moving on SATURDAY. That means 4 full days without Internet.
I tried telling the lady that there HAD to be a mistake. I can not go FOUR days without Internet. I could die!!!!!! However, she did not seam to care. I wonder if you can die from Internet withdraw?

Bionic Woman

I'm now calling myself the bionic woman.

Yesterday I had an ultrasound done of my thyroid. I will not know the results of that until I chat with my doctor in a few days.

Today I got my EKG machine put on. I get to wear this for 24 hours! I'm so lucky!! I have to say it feels odd having all these wires and such hooked up to me. I also have to keep a journal about what I'm doing during these 24 hours. Seeing that I still feel pretty bad I think the whole journal is going to say....resting.

A New World of Blogging

I have a video post!!!!! Beware...this movie is very scary.

What a day!

Are you ready for a story? Settle in...this may get long.

Saturday night my ears started to hurt, but I did not think much of it.

Sunday after church I felt horrible. I ached all over, fever, cough, headache. So I called the family I nanny for I told them I would not be in on Monday. I was hoping this would be like a 24 hour bug, and I would be back to work soon.

Today I did not get out of bed but two times. One, to take a shower. (the hot water felt so good on my aching body) And two, to go to the doctor. I was in no shape to drive so Donnie took me to his doctor (its a walk in clinic) after he got out of work. The clinic is SO ghetto I would prefer not to go there, but desperate times call for desperate measures. I'm happy to report that the doctor that I got was not ghetto at all, and I really liked him

The first thing the doctor asked me about was my thyroid. I thought this was a bit odd because I thought I had the flu. I have had issues with my thyroid in the past but nothing bad enough that needed treatment. I had not noticed this, but I have a rather large lump on my neck. He basically told me he thought my thyroid was going wacko.

Then came the tests. I had blood taken, an x ray of my chest, a breathing test thing, and an EKG. The EKG showed that something funky is going on in my body. So, I have to go back to this doctor for a 24 hour EKG test, a heart echo sound (or something like that) and have a ultrasound done of my thyroid.

Needless to say this all flipped me out. I go in thinking I have the flu, and leave needing test done on my heart. However, the doctor did give me an antibiotic for everything else that is going on. The doctor also have me this odd inhaler to use that does not spray anything, but you have to suck this power out of it. I can't figure out how to use it. Donnie has been helping.

Also needless to say is I have no pictures for today. I'm in a sorry state, and you should all be thankful that I'm sparing you from seeing me like this.

For all my prayer warrior friends out there, please pray for the healing of my body. Also, please pray that God will grant me peace during this time. Thanks!

City Living

This past week Donnie and I discovered another down side to living in the city. It goes by the name of home owners insurance. I did not know any of this before buying a house, but in order to have a mortgage one has to have home owners insurance. This is all fine and dandy unless you live in the city.

Here is the problem..(or so I'm told). We are not paying a huge amount of money for the house, but according to the insurance people, if the place burnt down it would cost more than twice what were paying to rebuild. So because what the house cost, and what it would cost to replace is so different, our insurance is SKY high.

I thought maybe the insurance guy was just making all this up, so I called my mortgage guy. He looked up some recent mortgages that he has done in the same area. And everyone was paying about the same HUGE price.

Here is where is gets frustrating. I WANT to live in Detroit. I want to live here to see a city changed. I want to be a part of that change. However, we are encountering so many bad things about living in the city. For a split second I thought we should just move some place else. Donnie and I did talk about it. However, God has given me a heart for the city. This is where I'm going to stay (until the cost of our house insurance drives us to the poor house).

Today we started the very large task of packing up all our earthly belonging into boxes. This is a very overwhelming task!!!! Needless to say, our apartment is torn up!!! Two men and a truck will be moving us a week from today!!!!! So much work to do, so little time.

Tonight we went over to my parents house to celebrate Valentines Day. My mom had a wonderful dinner for us, and then we got presents! I had wanted a shredder, and my mom got one for us! Nothing says "I love you" like a shredder!!!!

Happy (day after) Valentines Day!!

I hope everyone out their in blog land had a great Valentines day!!! Mine was most great. I do not work on Wednesdays, so I had the day off. And, my wonderful husband took the day off, so we got the spent the day together! How fun is that?

I had to run around a bit in the afternoon, and when I got back Donnie had flowers and lunch waiting for me!! How cool is that?

And to top the whole day off I got a new camera!!!! I had been wanting a new digital camera for a while now, and last night I got one! Its the Canon powershot630. I LOVE it! It has a ton of cool features that I'm trying to learn to use. I almost did not go to work today, because I wanted to stay home with my camera.

The feature that I have been playing with the most is called color accent, and it only shows one color, and everything else is in back and white. Too cool!!!

More House Pictures

Here are some pictures of the inside of the home we are buying!!! Enjoy!!!

This is looking into the kitchen. The appliances are 70's green. They still work, but I say they HAVE TO GO!!!!

This is the bathroom. The nice thing about the bathroom is that all the tile is new!!! Yeah!!! Bad thing about the bathroom....galvanised pipes.
Here's the basement. It is very woody. It has a upnorth feel to it. I'm not in love with the woody look, however, I do love having a finished basement This is the very old washer. And this also still works!!!! And this also is getting replaced!!!! hehehe

Hope you enjoyed the mini tour!!!!

Blogger Issues

Taxes!

I am happy to report that our taxes are done! This morning we went to a tax place that Donnie has always gone to before church. We were in and out in about 15 minutes. How cool is that? I'm happy to have this out of the way!

Party!!

On Saturday afternoon Donnie and I attended a surprise birthday party for Donnie's foster mom, Peggy. We had a great time celebrating her birthday! I also got to spend time with Buford (their 70 pound pit bull). There are only a few dogs that I like in this world, and he is one of them. Although he (the dog) is very found of licking, he knows that I HATE to be licked so he tries to control himself around me. :-)

Also the appraisal was done, so we set a date for closing! If all goes as planned we are going to close on the 23th of this month! It is all very exciting!!!

Cherry Nut Ice Cream

I LOVE ice cream. I could eat it day and night. My favorite ice cream of all time is cherry nut. Now, don't go looking for it in stores, you will not find it. This is something that you have to make on your own. The recipe for this has been passed on in my family (on my dad's side) from generation to generation.

My grandma (on my dad's side) would make this for us often when we would come to visit. Now, the recipe calls for walnuts, and seeing that my grandma had a walnut tree in her back yard she was covered. However, often times she would, by accident, leave part of the shells in the ice cream. Needless to say one was VERY careful eating her ice cream.

When my grandma passed away, my Aunt JoAnn starting making it for us. She greatly improved the recipe by using store bought walnuts with no shells. Our teeth were very thankful. My Aunt JoAnn became very ill before she passed away, but still when we came to visit she would always have cherry nut ice cream waiting for us.

Then my Aunt JoAnn passed away, and I thought I would never have cherry nut again. But then my dad had the idea that WE could make it!!!! We had a great time making our first batch together, not really having any clue of what we were doing. So the tradition continues. I often make cherry nut here in C-2, but Donnie seldom gets any because I eat it till I'm sick. As the picture shows I'm currently out of cherry nut. I MUST go make some more!

Burma

Warning....my posts are generally very light hearted, and never political. However, this one is not light hearted and it is political. So be warned. :-)

Today on Comcast website it had an article about a grand wedding that took place in Burma (also know as Myanmar, located in Asia)for the dictators daughter. Burma is said to be one of the poorest countries on the planet, but this wedding is estimated to cost $300,000. The people of Burma have been outraged about this. They are living in poverty and their dictator throws a huge wedding. This would make me mad also, but does it really surprise me? Nope

I spent a very short amount of time in Burma while I was teaching in English in Thailand, and it was by far the scariest place I have ever been. Freedom is such a laughable word in this place. The dictator makes sure that they remain a very isolated country by not allowing reporters in the country. If people are caught with a fax machine or a Internet hook up they are put in jail for 15 years!

My heart goes out for the people of Burma. My heart longs for the day when all God's children will be free. My heart is in constant prayer for them.

We Made an Offer!!

This morning before church we headed over to BJ's office to make an offer on the house we had been looking at! My dad looked at the house last night, and everything looked in good shape to him. After church BJ called with a counter offer. We have gone back and forth many times today, but I think we have agreed on a price!!!!

The only bad side...if we move into a house...what will I call my blog?

House Fever

With many of our friends house hunting, somehow we have caught the house fever. We have been looking at house for the past few weeks. I really want to stay in Detroit, and the homes we were looking at went from bad to worse! There was a house with no pluming, a house that was missing windows, and so on. Needless to say we were getting very discouraged.

However, things turned around for the better yesterday. We found a great realtor, BJ, who showed us two nice houses! Both of these homes had pluming and windows!!!!

The house pictured above is the one we are going to make an offer on. It is SO cute!!! Small...but cute!!! It is in the Old Redford part of Detroit, and all the homes around it are super cute. My dad is going to come over tonight and look at the house so we can get a second opinion. It is all very exciting!!!

I'm so Bad!!!

I have not posted at all this week. I just wanted to let those of you who were getting concerned that I am alive. House hunting, and being sick has taken over my life!!! I will post more!!!!
