yuck

Today has not been a great day. I have felt like poop. (sorry for the harsh language) I was having a fairly large amount of pain, so I rummaged through the medicine cabinet and found some Aleve. When this was still not working hours after I took it, I decided I needed something stronger. Thats when I got out the prescription meds!

Due to my hospital visit in May, I had some left over pain medication. I found some ibuprofen 600mg, and some hydrocodone 10mg in the good old medicine cabinet. I decided to go for the ibuprofen. I never took any of the hydocodone that was prescribed because I know too many people that have had problems not being able to get off it.

This leads me to a question..what is one to do with prescription medication when they have some left over? Let's hear it!

It's going to kill me!

I'm not very found of our chestnut tree at this very moment. It tried to kill me today!!! I was walking from my car into my house, and not two inches behind me fell a chestnut. The spikie stuff around the nut is SO sharp! I'm sure it could kill someone falling from the tree! So I'm going to take action. From now on, when walking to my car I'm caring an umbrella.

I did it!

I posted a while back about becoming a Tastefully Simple consultant. Well...I took the plunge, and I did it! I think the thing I love most about the company is how they help you make good food fast. Who wants to spend their whole life in the kitchen? Not me! :-)

My mom is hosting my Blast Off party on October 14th. Chances are good, if your reading this, your going to get an invite in the mail!!! I think the party will be really fun. How can you go wrong with good friends, and good food? :-)

Nuts!!!

Awhile back I posted about having a chestnut tree. I was very perplexed about how one is to get the nut out of its shell...until today. For some reason, they all started opening up today! Its one of the oddest things I have ever seen. I will try to let the pictures do the explaining.
When I found out that it was a chestnut tree, I came up with a grand plan to harvest them and roast them over a fire, just like the song. However, I think I have some competition. The squirrels are all over these things! And let me tell you, these guys are fast! So, don't be calling me when your wanting your roasted over the fire chestnuts!

Ha ha ha

Shannon every Sunday on her blog has Sunday Linkage. This Sunday she linked to the "blog" of "unnecessary" quotation marks. Although I'm not a grammar Nazi like Shannon, I did get a good chuckle from this site. Here is by far, my favorite post.
Best of all is the caption that went with it....I feel "safer" already.

Zoo Day!

Seeing that both Donnie and I were not working today we decided to head to the zoo. The zoo now has an area that you can feed the giraffes. We had been talking about doing this for awhile now, and today was the day. So we got there right when they opened at 10 because 11 was the feeding time. We had to wait in a bit of a line, but it was so much fun! Donnie took a video for you all to see!

It turned out to be a hot day, so we did not stay too much after that. However, we did stop to see the butterflies. I had fun trying to take pictures of them. Butterflies don't like to sit still!!

We also saw the zebra's, who are right next to the giraffes. This was super cute because there was a momma and baby there together.
And of course we could not leave the zoo without seeing the polar bears! Norton (the polar bear) was out and about, and it was very fun to watch him play.

Tastefully Simple

So I have been thinking about becoming a consultant for Tastefully Simple. I have been thinking that this would be a fun way to make some extra money. Seeing that I only work 3-4 days a week, I know I would have time to do the parties.

For those of you that are unfamiliar with the company, here is something I copy and pasted from the website.

Tastefully Simple is a dynamic direct sales company based in Alexandria, Minnesota.

What We Do
We offer a wide selection of convenient, easy-to-prepare gourmet foods designed to help people spend less time in the kitchen and more time enjoying the rest of their lives. Our products are sold by independent Tastefully Simple consultants primarily at home taste-testing parties nationwide.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Go Me!

(this is my first works for me Wednesday post! I hope everyone enjoys!)
So recently I have been trying to work out and eat healthy. I'm still walking away the pounds! I even give myself a sticker on my calender every time I do it! Stickers make me happy. :-)
I also have made a chart, to chart what I eat. My goal is to eat four servings of fruits and veggies each day, and three servings of dairy. Seeing that I'm a vegetation I'm also charting the amount of protein that I eat.
Each time I eat something I check it off on my chart. I think the whole checking thing is the most fun part! For the protein area I write down what I eat, and how much protein it has. I add it up as the day goes on. The V on the chart is for me to remember to take my vitamin!

That works for me!

Poor Man's Tax

This past Friday, I paid the poor man's (in this case, poor woman's) tax. I spent $2 and bought two instant lottery tickets. I was quite sure I was going to win the 4,000 dollar jackpot. However, for some odd reason, I only won two dollars. And then of course I took the two dollars that I won, and bought two more tickets. And you know what? They were both losers. Darn taxes!

Puggy Fun

Yesterday Donnie and I attended a puggy picnic hosted by the organization that we got Frankie from. It was great fun. When we first got there lunch was being served so we grabbed some lunch and chowed down. Frankie was most upset that the food was for the humans and not the pugs.
After lunch it was time for a group picture. They had a hard time getting all the pugs to look at the camera at the same time! Luckily for us, Frankie is VERY photogenic.
Then it was time for the games. There was the most winkles contest, and the best trick contest, and others of that nature. Frankie did not compete in these contests. He did not want to want to put the other pugs to shame.
After all this excitement Frankie was getting most tired, so he decided to take a nap under a picnic table.

Ebay!

I'm always looking for ways to make extra money, so I thought I would try the world of ebay. Here's what I did, I went to this super nice thrift store and bought 4 shirts, and 2 pairs of pants in size 4T. These are name brand clothes that I spend about $1 a piece on.
Seeing that it's back to school time, and people are starting to buy for fall and winter I thought this would be a good time to try this. I really had no idea how it would turn out, but surprisingly it went very well! This is something I'm going to do again for sure!

My Dear Husband

This morning while we were getting ready to go to church, Donnie headed outside to the shed. I meet him at the side door and he had this on his shoulder.
Normally I'm not one to be freaked out by bugs. But when I saw this on him I flipped. It was SO big and scary looking! A second later I realized that it was just the exoskeleton of a bug, not a real bug. I also realised that Donnie put the exoskeleton on his shirt just to freak me out. ha ha ha. I have SUCH a humorous hubby. ha.....ha......ha

I'm on a Roll!

I have worked out with my new video now three times! I'm very impressed with myself. During the video that I do, she uses these weighted ball things for upper body conditioning. These balls are about $20.00 in the store, and I did not want to do that. So I came up with a solution. Soup cans! Donnie is a big fan of chicken and stars soup, so we always have some on hand. I tried using them the other day and they work great and are WAY cheaper. :-)

Wowie Wow Wow!!!!

Today Frankie got a package in the mail!!! It was from his favorite 2nd cousin, Amy. Needless to say he could hardly wait to get into the box!
The first thing he opened was a "treat or treat" shirt. This was the first shirt he has ever had! And he loved it! He was so happy to put it on!
The next thing he opened was the chocolate dipped bones. (not to worry...it was white chocolate, and that's okay for dogs) Needless to say he LOVED it! He ate it licketly split!

While Frankie was busy with the bone we opened the rest of his presents. Not only did he get a shirt and two bones, but he also got a squirrel and a rope! He is in doggie heaven!
To top it all off she got presents for Wilber, Timpleton, and Oy! I think all our boys are going to get spoiled!

I'm Getting FIt!

I have decided that I need to get fit. I thought about joining a gym, but I think I would never go, and its really expensive. So, I went to Target today and bought a DVD. I'm going to start walking away my pounds with Leslie Sansone. I know a few people in the blogging world that like her, so I thought I would give it a try. The video I have has 5 workouts on it, and I did the easiest one tonight. All I have to say is...boy I'm out of shape! According to my mother things will get easier. I hope so!

Outside!

Does any one else out there get like a million and two fliers (everything from fast food, to yard care) on there porch? Well..we do, and I got sick of picking them up all the time. So I decided to do something about it. And its called using a large flower pot.
As you can see from the picture, I added a nice sign to it stating that all ad's can be placed inside. We had already been throwing the fliers in it, so now its official! I just wonder if it will work! We shall see.
Also, I have more sunflowers blooming! Some of them are getting too top heavy, so I think I will need to tie them up.

Rocks and Frankie

For a while now, Donnie and I have suspected the little boys next door of throwing rocks at Frankie while he is outside. A few weeks back I was out in the yard, and there were loads of these white rocks in our yard. I had no idea where they had come from. I told Donnie about it, and he told me that he thought the boys next door where throwing them. But we never had any proof.

Our proof did come a couple of days ago. We had let Frankie outside, and Donnie was watching him out the window. And know what he saw? The boys next door throwing rocks at Frankie! Poor Frankie was just standing there. He did not bark at them or anything!

This whole situation made Donnie very upset. He took a few deep breaths and then we both went next door to talk to the boys mom. We had met the mom a couple weeks ago, so that made things easier. When we told her what Donnie saw, she was very upset with her boys. She first called the younger of the two over (he is maybe 5) and asked him if he was throwing rocks. Very slowly he nodded his head without saying a word. In the end the boys said they were sorry and it would not happen again. I sure hope not!

Cupcake!

I meant to post a picture of the cupcake that I decorated yesterday, but somehow I forgot. So without further ado, I present my cupcake.
As you can see, not only did I decorate the cake, but also the plate! I think the judges were blind not to give me first place!! ha ha ha

*****UPDATE
Some people had some questions about this cupcake, so I will try to answer them. We were giving all the supplies to make the cupcake, and we were able to eat them after. I took my home and then ate it. :-)
