Help Me!

After an afternoon of tramping around in the yard I have found a few thing that I don't know what they are. So if anyone can identify any of these things please let me know! Thanks!

We have these odd tuffs of grass all over the backyard. Any idea what they are? My hubby thinks they might be crab grass.

This is popping up all over the front flower beds. I'm thinking it is some sorta weed. Should I pull all it out?

Okay this last one is a bit odd...maybe even gross. We are finding all sorts of bones in our backyard. Some of them have very smooth edges so Donnie thinks that they were cut at a butcher. Maybe a treat for a dog? But the middle one seems to be some sort of hip bone. Of a dog? Katie....I need your help here!

Fun Day!

Seeing that today is Wednesday I had the day off! Yeah! My dear friend Katie and I got to spend most of the day together. How fun is that? We started at Sweet Lorain's in Southfield for lunch. It was SO good, and very vegetarian friendly.

Then we headed to the Detroit Zoo. Katie had not been there in over 10 years! How sad is that? Seeing that I have a membership we both got in free. You can't beat free!!!

I'm not one to go in the amphibian house, but Katie wanted to so in we went. And we saw the oddest thing. One of the alligators (or is at a crocodile?) was laying there with his mouth open the whole time we were in there. I think he was waiting for food to walk in it. Too funny

Katie was very excited to see the camels, because recently while overseas she had the chance to ride one!We had a great time at the zoo and the weather was great!

Too Funny!

This is the story of Donnie and my misadventure with some furry friends. It all started when I got home from work today, and I went to check on my bird feeder. I put the bird feeder up over the weekend, and I have been keeping a close eye on it to see if any birds are eating at it yet.

To my shock the bird feeder was missing, until I looked down and saw this:

Yup, somehow the our furry friend had gotten the bird feeder down and was eating the whole thing. This was not your average furry guy. We had seen this guy around our yard a bit and we call him Mr. Tubs. So I went out to evaluate the situation. When I looked at the feeder, I could see that Mr. Tubs had chewed the rope apart, and that is why it was on the ground. So I tied it back together, hung it up, and went back inside the house. When I came back in this is what I saw:
Mr. Tubs was back!!!!!! This is where my story ends, and Donnie takes over. At this point I headed to City Mission for tutoring. So Donnie says goodbye to me, and then goes back to check on the feeder. Well....a gray furry friend, We call her Ms. Smoke decided she wanted to have some food, so her and Mr. Tubs got into a fight. And the lady won.

Ms. Smoke was having a grand old time on the ground.

Until she got the idea that she should climb the pole and have a real meal.

However, because of all the rain the pole was very slick. So she got all the way up, and then slid all the way down. Poor Ms. Smoke.

Ms. Smoke ate a bit longer and then headed home. She said she would be back later!

We are so thankful that we have a yard to watch our furry friends in! I love having a house!

P.S. Donnie and I took 72 pictures tonight of this event. Be happy we did not post all of them!

Dirt!

The weather today has been so nice, that I got to spend some time in the yard!!! Yeah! My task for today was to make the side of the yard a bit nicer. This is one of the areas that we have flowers growing that I posted pictures of yesterday.
So, I pulled the weeds and grass in the area around the flowers. Then my hubby and I went to Home Depot (we are spending WAY to much money there. hehehehe) to buy some bricks to put around it. My hubby says that he is going to level out where the bricks are sometime this week.
I'm pleased with how this turned out with not a lot of time or money being spent on it!

Flowers!!!!!

Today my wonderful parents come over to our house. My dad and husband were in the basement fixing something, and my mom and I were in the yard. And know what we found?? More flowers!!! How fun is that?? And seeing that I had my mom right there she could tell me what they were!

Then my mom and I were sitting in the kitchen and we saw a raccoon on the roof of the house in back of us! I don't think I have ever saw a real live raccoon before! The raccoon just kept walking around for a while! I thought he was cute, but I'm told that raccoons do not make good friends.

Flowers?

To me, one of the most exciting things about having a house is the fact that you can plant! When we moved into our house I was all ready to buy massive amounts of bulbs and plant them in our flower beds. However, I was talking with my mom and she told me that I should wait, and see if anything comes up. This thought made me very excited. So every day, now that's its been a bit warmer, I have been out in the flower beds looking for growth. And you know what? I saw something!!!!!

My only question now is...what is it? If anyone has any ideas, let me know! I can't wait to find out what it is!!!! If its a weed, I'm going to be very upset.

In other news..I went to the thyroid doctor today. Not so fun. He told me that I need to have the left side of my thyroid taken out. How unfun is that? He did some more blood work, and I have to go back and see him in about a week. Then we will set up the surgery date. I'm not really looking forward to this.

Seeing how much everyone is enjoying the house pictures, I thought I would add a couple more today!

New Stuff!

Yesterday, Donnie and I went shopping for a new monitor to go with our new computer. Donnie had saw a 19 inch flat screen on sale for $199 so we headed to get it. However, when we got there, Donnie fell in love with a 22 inch wide screen. Needless to say, we came home with the 22 inch wide screen. The good news is that this one was on sale, and there was a rebate!

My dear friend Courtney asked for more house pictures, so here you go!

I was going to post more house pictures...but blogger is not wanting to work. Ohh well..maybe tomorrow.

Pictures!

After we moved in, Donnie and I had our wedding photographer come out and take pictures of us and our new house. I know this is not something that most people do, but it was SO much fun, and I LOVE the pictures. We got the CD with the pictures on it today, and there are like 90 some pictures!

I wanted to have pictures done for a few reasons. One, I wanted to use them for new address cards, open house cards, and our Christmas newsletter. Also, I want to change the banner on my blog to one of these pictures. However, that won't be for a while, because the lady that made my header before is taking a couple weeks off right now. How can she do this to me? hehehe

We had such a great time with these pictures. She took pictures of us in our bathtub! We were laughing the whole time we were in the tub. I think I will have to have some of the tub pictures printed to hang in the bathroom.

She even took pictures of us and our babies, Wilber and Timpleton! They are famous now!

These pictures were all taken by The Shooting Gallery Photography. Check out the website here! As you can see she does AWESOME work!

New Computer!!!

So the computer that we have (well...its really Donnie's) has been flaky for a while now. Working, and not working when ever it pleases. The funny thing is that I think the computer issues where more upsetting to me than Donnie.

So, on Sunday night he ordered a new machine online, and it was delivered today! YEAH!!!!! How fast was that??? The plan is to put the new machine in the computer room, and put the old computer downstairs. It will be nice having two machines. Hopefully now we won't be fighting over them!!! hehehe

Unpacking

So we have been in our house a few weeks now, and boxes are still every where! I have had no motivation to unpack what so ever. Its so sad! However, yesterday I made myself get the living room put together. I think this was the room that had the least amount of work to do to it. Hey...you have to start somewhere.

The computer room is the worst room right now. This has turned into a dumping room for stuff that I don't know what to do with. I'm slowly coming to the conclusion that at some point I need to find a home for all this stuff.

I am happy to report that our front door is looking very cute. Shortly after we moved in I bought a spring welcome sign for the door. Its so fun to buy holiday decorations for our house! In our apartment we did not have room for anything like this!

Top of the Morning to You!

One thing that brings me great joy in life, is making a big deal out of little holidays. Yesterday was a great example of this. My mom invited Donnie and I over for dinner yesterday and it was great. We had potatoes, cabbage, clover rolls, and some sorts Irish meat. Being the non meat eater I have no idea what it was.

Then the real fun started. We all played California Rummy. This has been a game that our family has played forever! It was great fun.

Happy (day after) St. Patty's Day!

Trash Can

Yesterday was a day of amazement's. First, we finally got our Internet hooked up, and we got our trash can!!!!! Many of you (the peeps I know in "real" life) know our story with our trash can. But for those that have not heard the story..here it goes.

When we moved into our house, we had no garbage can. This is a problem because in Detroit everyone has to have the same can from the city. However, I did not think it was going to be hard to get one. So I called the city to try and buy a trash can. They told me I had to file a police report because it was missing when we moved it.
So I called the police department (I guess they have a whole department devoted to trash can issues) and they asked me many many question. Like, When did you first notice the trash can missing? What time of day was it?...blah...blah...blah. The whole time I was like...you have got to be kidding me...all this for a trash can? Then the ultimate question (I swear this is 100% the truth) she asked me "Are you white or black?" I literally said to her "WHAT?" In telling Donnie this story he said I should have asked her what color gets the can the fastest.
After I filed the police report, I had to call the city back. They informed me that they would mail me more information about getting my can. Keep in mind, we have just moved it, have lots of trash and no where to put it. Luckily my mom and dad came one weekend, and took some of the trash for us.
A week later, I did get a letter in the mail, stating that I need to send a money order to the city. So I went to the bank got the money order, and mailed it in. And yesterday our trash can showed up!!!!! It a miracle!!!!!

Internet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the happiest day of my life!!!! (okay...besides my wedding day. hahaha) We have Internet!!!! I thought I was going to die without it but I did make it!!!! So far, our DSL is really fast, only slightly slower than cable.

Today I went to the doctor, once again to get test results. The doctor said that the growth on my thyroid is not cancer, and he does not want to do anything with it at this time. He is sending me to a specialist to get his thoughts on the issue. I have a question with all of this. Because I'm going to a new doctor does that mean I have to have all my test done again? I sure hope not.

I love the Library!

Currently I'm using the computer at the Redford library. I love this place. Not only do they have tons of books, helpful nice people, but they also have SUPER fast computers! WOW! If only I could live here. hahahaha

I have a very important announcement to make. After much thought I have deiced to keep the 70's green appliance. I'm sure this is very shocking to most of you. Here are the reasons. They are in VERY good shape, and VERY clean. It does not look like anyone has ever even used them. Also, the color is growing on me. It fits the rest of the kitchen. So, they are staying.

There has been another set back to our Internet connection getting. I'm sure you are all shocked. So, we got a phone line, and we are getting DSL. Here's the problem. We only have one phone jack in the whole house (gotta love old houses) and we do not want a wire going all the way from the kitchen to the computer room. So we are having another jack put in. They can not come out to put a jack in till Wednesday. grrr.

On to pictures!!!!! Yeah!!!!

This is Donnie enjoying our very first meal at our house! We ordered pizza (for me) and wings (for Donnie).

A couple days after we moved in we got a big snow, and of course we had no shovel. Donnie had to go to Home Depot to get a shovel.

Here are some pictures of our color choices. The colors look really funky on this computer. I hope they are not like this on yours! In the computer room, on three walls we did a light purple, and on the last wall we painted dark purple. I really like how this room turned out.

In the bedroom we did three walls light blue, and one wall a darker blue. I'm not sure how I feel about these colors.

The living room is a orangeish pinkish color. Donnie calls it adobe. (as in Native American not photoshop)

I would invite you all over for a visit. But the place is still a MESS. Maybe in another month. Have a great weekend!

Still no Internet!

I am going through withdraw!!! I can't take it!!! Going this long with out Internet could drive a person mad!

Here's the scoop on whats been happening. We got a land line. I thought the day would never come. We are getting an alarm system put in, so we needed to get one. Also, we have always used cable Internet, but it is SO expensive, so we are switching to DSL. I hope it does not drive me insane. Does anyone out there use a DSL line? Let me know what you think of it.

Yesterday was a big day! We got our washer and drier!!! It is so nice not having to go to the laundromat. I did 5 loads of laundry! (I did not work yesterday, because I was having test done) Love it, love it, love it

Also yesterday I had my thyroid scan and uptake done. It was nice because I got to talk to this doctor for a bit who only deals with thyroid issues. He was the one that did the test. On the scan they were looking to see if the mass on my thyroid contains cancer. Cancer...now that's a scary word. Although I will not get results back for about a week, the doctor is 99% sure there is no cancer. I was told that even if it was cancer, it is very easy to take care of if its on the thyroid. That's a good thing.

We should have our DSL line up and running by the 12th. Then many, many, many, pictures will be posted. Although, I'm sad to report that I have no pictures of my thyroid.

Update Part 2

We still have no Internet. sniff sniff sniff. For some reason our computer is not working, so I had to call and cancel the Internet guys. I think something happened with the computer in the move. Donnie is great with computers, so he is going to try to fix it soon.

That means that right now I'm at work, and its nap time. Boy do I love nap time. hehehe

I went back to the doctor yesterday to get the results back on my tests. They showed that I have a mass growing on both sides of my thyroid. So what does this mean? More test. ohh joy. I have to go in and have my thyroid scanned. I'm not sure what all this entails, but I know I have to take a day off of work for it. I'm ready to be done with all these tests!!

We are all moved now!!! Yesterday we got all our things out of the apartment, and left our keys. It feels so good to be all moved. However, now we have to do the unpacking. Donnie and I have been SO busy with all this moving stuff! Last night we just relaxed on the sofa for like 30 min before bed, and I think that was the best part of my week so far.

As soon as our computer is up and running I will post pictures!
